Abstract

Ascariasis, caused by the nematode Ascaris lumbricoides, is one of the most common parasitic infections worldwide, which mainly affects populations in vulnerable situations and with deficiencies in sanitation and hygiene. In tropical and subtropical areas, where living conditions are precarious, infection by this helminth becomes a significant threat to public health. This parasitosis not only has a negative impact on nutritional status and child development, but also contributes to the cycle of poverty and underdevelopment. The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of promotion and nursing care actions on the prevention and management of ascariasis infection. A review of articles and research was carried out with a qualitative-quantitative and analytical approach, to interpret the effect of nursing interventions and measure the impact and results of these actions. The results showed that promotion and nursing care actions, focused on education about hygiene and prevention, are essential for reducing the incidence of ascariasis in vulnerable populations. It is necessary to strengthen health promotion programs in rural areas, with a perspective on health education and access to health services. The implementation of public policies that promote adequate sanitation and the improvement of living conditions in vulnerable communities is also suggested
